The specification sheet for the Nexus 600, built in South Africa, puts its size and power in perspective. The mainsail alone measures 1,350 square feet, the beam is just short of 30 feet, and the mast towers 77 feet above the water. Simply put, it\u2019s a lot of boat, one built for adventure and extended liveaboard cruising.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

For all its size, the Nexus was designed to be sailed by one competent couple. All the essential sailing functions lead to a single, well-protected steering station. The winches and hardware reflect the boat\u2019s heavy-duty mission. The deck ergonomics afford easy movement, good work stations, and several recreational areas. The interior is large and functional, yet surprisingly elegant. The full-service galley must rank as best in class. The saloon table comfortably sits eight, as does the covered cockpit table. The multiple living spaces are at once accessible, open, bright, and beautiful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

At great expense, the entire boat is constructed with epoxy resin and varying thicknesses of vacuum-bagged Corecell reinforced with carbon fiber. It should prove robust and durable. The Nexus is not only a capable getaway vehicle; it\u2019s also the ultimate stay-away vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n
